Program Director

Wanda Manning

My name is Wanda Shoemaker Manning. I grew up in Lake Providence, a small agricultural town in northeastern Louisiana, next to the Mississippi River. I am the third oldest of nine children. I graduated from Lake Providence Senior High School (General Trass High School). I furthered my education at Northeast University (ULM) by getting a Master's in Education.

I taught elementary school in Lake Providence for about 33 years. I loved teaching for so many reasons. First, it is a calling! I love that I had the opportunity to prepare young people for the future.

After retiring from education, I became a Delta Interfaith leader. Delta Interfaith is a broad-based coalition of congregations and community-based organizations in the Louisiana Delta, with the capacity to address community problems large and small. With Delta Interfaith, I remain proactive in children's and the community's lives. Art for All is another young organization established by people in and around the parish that allows me to interact with children on a more artistic level. I draw, paint, and create stuff as pastime hobbies.

I desire to see the East Carroll community thrive, espe cially in education. As a part of the Together for Hope team, I look forward to assisting you further in any cause for the greater good in East Carroll Parish. Thank you for the opportunity and for choosing me as the Director of Together for Hope in East Carroll.

Thank you for supporting my work in Lake Providence, Louisiana!
